//. WELFARE

Studying is a long and tiring process, and the UCSA sees itself as being in an excellent position to care for students' well-being. The UCSA strives to contribute towards helping students survive these difficult years. As such, the UCSA provides several welfare orientated functions for students:

Be Safe On Campus
Check out the UC Security Page for safe walking routes and tips on how to stay safe on campus

Food Bank
This provides donated food to students who need something to eat over a difficult period. With cans of food kindly donated by various community groups, the Food Bank is an underutilised tool ready to help. Contact the UCSA Welfare executive member or the reception desk for help.

Child Care
With some of the cheapest fees in Christchurch, the UCSA operates a number of Child Care centers close to the University campus. An after school care program has also been in place recently, contact the organiser for more info:

Recreation
The UCSA supports a huge number of clubs in which students are able to explore a variety of pursuits and distractions. The UCSA building itself contains a number of Playstation machines for free use, a free Foozball table, pool tables and numerous other distractions including a large television in the Shelley Common Room.

Free Phones
There are phones available for making local calls free of charge. You can find these in the UCSA foyer and outside Bentley's bar on the second floor.

General Support
The UCSA building provides a base of operations for Studylink, Student Job Search, Chaplain support, and education and advocacy support to ensure these valuable services are close by and accessible when you need them.
