The Food Bank is perhaps one of the least advertised services of the students association but it has been established for many years. Situated just past the Ilam lounge upstairs in the UCSA building, the Food Bank stocks a variety of food to assist students in times of financial hardship.
The Food Bank provides food on a case by case scenario and can provide dinner and the following morning's breakfast for students in need. It provides short-term assistance for emergency situations. For long term assistance the University Budget Advisory Service found on level seven of the library can offer advice and support or Studylink offers hardship grants.
The UCSA Food Bank is open for students facing hardship during the Associations office hours (8.30am-4pm, Monday-Friday), or outside these by appointment. To get access to the Food Bank please bring your current Canterbury Card to the UCSA’s reception desk for assistance, or email the Welfare representative Hayley to organize an appointment time.
