University Chaplains are involved in many things: one to one conversations, supporting people in crisis, special services and events, speaking to groups, writing for publications such as Canta, and sitting on hardship committees and the like.
Often they work as a link between students, faculty, staff, churches, and the community. All this takes place in an environment where people are growing, learning, and often searching.
Chaplains are on the UC campus as someone you can talk to, pray with, and bounce ideas and questions off. We are involved with advocacy and care and we offer this to people of any faith or background. Any discussions you have with a chaplain will be confidential and - as we are independent of UC - impartial. We are also available to lead rites of passage or services such as house blessings, weddings, funerals, and baptisms. A Catholic Mass is held each Tuesday.
We come from a variety of different Christian Churches unified in our desire to see the Christian gospel become a vital part of people’s lives as together we grapple to integrate our faith, academic training, and vocations at UC.
