//. USEFUL LINKS

Students often have problems with finances, and in reflection of this, the UCSA has accumulated a number of external links that have proved tremendously useful in reducing the strain on studying. If you have anything to add to this list, please email the UCSA's welfare representative Hayley.

Recipes

  • Pams offer an excellent website with recipes and printable shopping lists. It is very easy to use and has a wide range of recipes but primarily uses their products (as do all the commercial sites).
  • The Watties 'Food in a Minute' site has a lot of recipes as seen on TV.
  • Nestle produces a number of recipes, but is less focused on being quick and easy.
  • Sanitarium also offers a large number of recipes of varying costs sorted by the type of occasion.
  • Varsity.co.nz has a few small recipes, but generally focuses on food information in general.
  • FreeRecipes.co.nz has a reasonable number of recipes, but doesn't focus on cheap or quick to make meals.
  • Mikes Meals again has a good number of recipes, but isn't as cheap as it could be.

Financial Assistance

  • The University's Budget Advice team are extremely helpful and always willing to give you a hand. As such, they have a number of ways to assist students on their website including:
  • Budget Worksheet; an excel sheet to lay out your day to day accounts.
  • Cashflow Template; an excel sheet that helps plan for your finances in future weeks.
  • Useful Tips; a section with all kinds of tips and advice for flatting and being a student in general.
  • Grant Applications; the University offers a number of grants for students suffering real financial hardship. If you are in true financial strife, contact them immediately before things get worse! Glasses and dental emergencies are typical problems that these can cover.
  • Studylink can assist with grants and loans for arising emergencies, and should be approached prior to paying any costs as they cannot provide costs retroactively.
