Founded in 1924, FORSOC really has been ‘chopping it since ages ago’! With its roots in the primary industries FORSOC is a great place to meet other like-minded people who are always down for a good yarn and a beer or two.
FORSOC strives to promote forestry, a lesser known degree, at the University of Canterbury and the wider forestry industry. With forestry focused networking events such as the meet your future employers evening and forestry quiz night there are many great opportunities to make connections in the industry with fellow students and possible employers.
However FORSOC is not all work and no play and pride ourselves on providing the best parties at UC, as well as the sickest clubs singlet your hot summer-work cash can buy. In a time when clubs are conforming with political correctness and reigning in their (albeit imperfect) drinking culture it is reassuring to know that FORSOC stands against the tide. With a wide range of classic social events on offer such as a steam-boat ball, loose bus trips, and FORSOC/HuntSoc BBQ's complete with wild game spit roast, Uncle Kenny's Infamous Sport's punch (Low G.I., low carb, low dignity) and enough beer to sedate the student community of Ilam.
Come join a club where you are a part of the team and not ignored by executives with impeding ego's.
Disclosure: Lads and Ladettes from all walks of UC life are eligible to be members of this undervalued club, we aren't all just tree huggers.
Sponsored by: Harrington's Breweries, Pacific Forest Products, NZ Forest Managers
